Mi postoperatorio ha sido increíblemente liviano tras una cirugía bimaxilar con rotación antihoraria.

Mi caso comenzó el 10/06/2021, cuando, a mis 27 años, me diagnosticaron apnea del sueño, una condición que afectaba de manera significativa mi calidad de vida y mi salud general. Tras pasar por numerosos estudios y tratamientos, el equipo médico especializado del Instituto Maxilofacial de Barcelona determinó que una cirugía ortognática sería esencial para corregir esta condición y evitar el uso continuo del dispositivo CPAP durante el sueño.
Desde que tomé la decisión, he necesitado un proceso de preparación que ha durado casi dos años, utilizando ortodoncia para poder estar listo para la intervención. Finalmente, el 15 de enero de 2025, fui sometido a una intervención de avance maxilomandibular,genioplastia y rinoplastia centrada.
Hoy, apenas han pasado siete días desde la operación, y ya estoy aprendiendo a masticar alimentos blandos. Todo ha ido mucho mejor de lo que esperábamos. Por supuesto, enfrentarse a una intervención de este tipo genera miedo y dudas, pero solo puedo dar las gracias al equipo del Instituto Maxilofacial por el trato recibido, especialmente a Noelia, Mari, Nieves y, por supuesto, al Dr. Federico Hernández Alfaro. Desde mi primera consulta hace dos años, el Dr. Hernández Alfaro me transmitió confianza y seguridad en cada etapa del proceso. (Y sí, aún somos amigos).
Todavía tengo pendiente una revisión con los médicos del sueño para confirmar oficialmente que mi apnea ha desaparecido, pero durante las últimas tres noches he dormido bien y mis análisis del sueño muestran resultados positivos sin necesidad de utilizar el CPAP. Si todo sigue así, ¡es probable que no tenga que usarlo nunca más!
Además de solucionar mi problema de apnea del sueño, el procedimiento también ha transformado mi rostro, algo que inicialmente consideraba secundario, pero con lo que estoy muy contento.
Sin duda, creo que acudir al Instituto Maxilofacial de Barcelona ha sido la mejor decisión que he tomado. Su profesionalidad, atención y dedicación hacen que los recomiende al 100%, y si tuviera que repetir, no lo dudaría.

Me operé hace dos meses de cirugía ortognática bimaxilar con el Dr. Hernández Alfaro y la operación salió muy bien, según lo previsto. Se nota que es un profesional que se toma en serio su trabajo y la salud de sus pacientes. He tenido a posteriori una pequeña inflamación pero que ha sido revisada con minuciosidad y se ha puesto remedio para curarla dando lugar a todas las revisiones que fuesen necesarias. Me han seguido el proceso con toda la amabilidad y con todo el rigor del mundo tanto por Rosa, la enfermera que me ha dirigido en el proceso de recuperación como por el doctor. Sin duda recomiendo ponerse en sus manos y volvería a hacerlo si fuese necesario.

I was very hesitant about getting jaw surgery since it likely was the right thing to do for the long run however it didn’t seem like it was absolutely necessary in the short run. So I consulted with several surgeons both in Spain and the United States and kept looking as I wasn’t fully convinced.
When I left my first visit with Dr. Federico Hernández Alfaro I knew my search was over. He answered all my questions and gave me the clarity ant trust I needed.
Months later I did the surgery with him and both the arrangements and procedure went perfect.
Through several office visits I got to meet some of his nurses and assistants including Rosa and Noelia who were always friendly, and competent.
I am extremely grateful for having found Dr Alfaro. If it wasn´t for him I’d probably still be looking around.
Glad I got my surgery done and now I can move on. Will always be appreciative with the results I got and the warmth of his team.
