My name is Shir Elad, I am an 18-year-old from Palestine
and I would like to tell you about the process I went through at the Oral and Maxillofacial Clinic at Ichilov Hospital for the past two years. From the age of 12, my lower jaw began to move to the side and this was reflected in my appearance and really bothered me. When I went for a check-up, I realized that this was a problem that required surgical intervention and I was referred to Ichilov Hospital for the Oral and Maxillofacial Clinic.
I went to Dr. Oren Peleg for an initial check-up, after which I was told that I had to undergo surgery to stop the growth on the right side of my jaw. At first I was a little stressed, I hesitated, but he made it clear to me that it was a short process that would not require much from me, except to be patient. I had the surgery successfully and I was happy that I had it because it had a great impact on my appearance and improved it a lot (the lower jaw that was tilted to the side returned to its natural position).
Later, when I came for a check-up, he made it clear to me that I had to undergo another surgery, a more difficult one in which my jaw would be locked for a month and a half without being able to eat. At first, I said there was no way I would go through it and I wasn't interested.
Dr. Peleg didn't give up on me and didn't give up on me and told me that I would indeed have the surgery and it would be difficult, but I could do it.
Two years later, I had the surgery.
The first week wasn't easy, with pain, but the medical staff in the ward were amazing and made sure that I felt almost no pain and that I was comfortable and pleasant in the room I was in.
The doctors came every morning to check on me and I felt like we were already friends 😉
After a week, I returned home and the beginning was difficult. I couldn't eat with a straw, but I didn't give up and over time it got easier until later on I was also eating soft food like mashed potatoes (through a syringe).
I counted the days and 11/10 arrived!
They lifted my quarantine.
Today I'm in physiotherapy and despite the difficulty, the change is crazy! And I would undoubtedly go through everything from the beginning and recommend to anyone in a dilemma - to listen to Dr. Peleg's recommendations!
