I planned to travel to Tijuana completely alone for my MMO surgery, so it was extremely important for me to find the perfect fit. My first priority was finding an incredible surgeon that could give me the results I wanted, but I also wanted to find a team that could expertly coordinate and support my care. I spent probably over 100 hours researching and am SOOOO happy I ended up choosing Dr Camberos and his team! My experience and recovery has gone perfectly, definitely much better than other women I spoke to throughout my time in Tijuana.
Carla, the patient coordinator, was absolutely incredible. She answered all of my questions during the weeks leading up to surgery, checked in regularly about my health, and ensured everything was in place (including transport from San Diego) for my arrival. When I was in Tijuana, I felt like she was the glue that kept me together - from visiting me and providing comforting words a few hours after surgery to arranging all of my post-op appointments and transportation - she was 100% attentive to my needs throughout my entire stay. Many people I spoke with felt disconnected from their surgeon's office because they either did not have a coordinator or they went through a 3rd party; Carla was a crucial part of my experience and I'm so incredibly grateful for her!
Dr Camberos was extremely professional and thorough. He paid close attention to my medical conditions and past surgeries, and even ordered extra pre-op tests to make sure I would get the best results. I always felt like I was a priority for him, he answered my questions thoroughly and always took as much time as I needed to ask my questions. He even made additional post-op recommendations based specifically on my progress. Honestly, I can't believe I'm saying all of this about a surgeon because this is completely unheard of in the US!
My OR experience really stood out compared to the many experiences I've had in the US. For past surgeries, I always had to hop onto the cold operating table and lay there while the staff got ready all around me, not talking to me or making me feel comfortable at all, and then if I was lucky the anesthesiologist would give me a hint of what was happening by having me do a countdown until I went to sleep. With Dr Camberos' team, the environment was extremely friendly and fun, even. I fell asleep smiling!
Included in my package was 5 lymphatic drainage sessions with the therapist at the surgeon's office. While at first I wasn't the most enthusiastic about leaving my recovery home to go out in public in my pjs and faja, I'm so glad I did! Juan Carlos is amazing, he is extremely knowledgeable and professional and truly cares about his patients' comfort and health. He was present in the OR for my surgery, and having follow up care from someone who knew exactly what was done to my body was invaluable! He was able to track my progress and Dr Camberos was right next door if any issues came up. I believe that Juan Carlos' care greatly sped up my recovery, and being in the office so often made me feel 100% comfortable that my progress was being monitored and going as expected.
Dr Wendy the anesthesiologist was also amazing. 2 days before my surgery I developed some congestion, and Dr Wendy spent at least 20 minutes on the phone with me (at 8pm!) talking through my symptoms and her recommendations. She was so comforting and kind in the OR and even came to visit me at the recovery house a few days after surgery.
Dr Julio the surgical coordinator, Ivonne another patient coordinator, literally everyone in the office was a superstar!
If you are having surgery alone, if you don't speak Spanish, if you have special medical needs, or if you just want the best care and experience possible, I cannot recommend Dr Camberos' team highly enough!

These people are incompetent as hell. I was scheduled for a procedure to be done. I booked it three weeks ago. I was going to travel to TJ from LA. The night before the surgery I begin to receive texts and calls from the surgeon's admin assistant asking me questions about my medical history. Which I gave to them in detail from the beginning. Both the surgeon and anesthesiologist overlooked that I am on a weekly medication which they feel I should be off of for a min. of 2 weeks before going in for the procedure. I do not have a problem with that. I have a problem with the utmost incompetence and lack of professionalism of cancelling something literally at the last minute. Since the moment we set the date for the procedures, I was clear about my med history and current list of meds. In the US, when you schedule any kind of procedure you are immediately given instructions as to how to prepare. That was not the case with them. I asked them several times if there were any specific instructions to prepare for the procedures. I have no idea how a fully trained surgeon and an anesthesiologist overlooked this. While I am super upset and frustrated that I won't have the work I wanted done as planed, I am also glad. I am not sure I want someone with that level of incompetence performing any kind of medical procedure on me. Perhaps I dodged a bullet. Approach with caution.
