We went to Dr. Donna's clinic to get medical certificates for renewing our driving licenses and got them speedily and for a very fair price. However, the office staff seemed a bit confused and were quite unprofessional. Everyone sitting in the waiting room had their blood pressure taken and the results were read out loud by the machine for the whole room to hear. We had to tell our height and weight in the same way, in front of others. I'd think this would be considered private information in most places.
We were asked to put our contact information directly into their computer and the staff left me alone with the computer for a short while. Again, doesn't seem very private.
The staff also told in front in front of others about an upcoming Botox treatment of one of the people waiting there.
And the upselling. They have to upsell and I understand this. So one of the staff told my partner, who is a 53 year old man, that they offer fantastic Botox parties. Just in case he wanted his friends to come around and enjoy this together. He is still laughing about this.
Dr. Donna was highly recommend by a friend and we can't fault her directly, but it's her staff that need more training.
Dr Donna is such a skilled, caring and just world-class doctor. She was the primary doctor in Bangkok for myself and my family...we had pretty much everything done at medconsult with dr donna - vaccinations, health check-ups, coughs/ colds/ sicknesses and dr donna even did a Home visit to visit my son in our home (when he was very unwell).
Would definitely recommend to all individuals living or passing through bangkok who need any medical care or medical service at all.
I saw Dr. Donna on Saturday for a prescription refill. She is friendly and very knowledgeable. I was told that my medication should be ready by Tuesday, and I ensured her staff had my contact information to let me know when it was available.
I had not heard anything by Wednesday so I contacted her office and was told they would call me back. No one called me back.
It’s now Thursday and since I have not received any communication from her office I was able to find my medication at the pharmacy next door to my hotel. I leave Bangkok tomorrow and could not wait for a call from her office any longer.
I would certainly return next time I’m in Bangkok because I feel Dr. Donna provides a level of knowledge that ex-pats expect and it’s just easier to work with a western doctor most of the time.
**edit** I appreciate the response by Dr. Donna. Things happen and I am glad this was an isolated situation. I will certainly return next year when I am vacationing in Bangkok. Might get some Botox.
I want to put down a marker so that others will be able to judge for themselves. I’m referring to the fact that, even though I made an appointment two months in advance with Dr Robinson, when I arrived, I was told that she was not there since she had to attend to an emergency at Bumrungrad Hospital. Although, I’m not in a position to say that this was not the case, I do have to say that for a GP to have to attend an emergency at a hospital would seem to be quite frankly bizarre. But let’s say that the claim is true. Given that there was time to organise a locum why was there not enough time to notify patients? Given that I was expecting a doctor with decades of experience both in the UK and Thailand it would be unfair to comment on the extremely young Thai doctor I did see. Having lived for three years in Bangkok on a previous occasion and after frequent visits to the city, I have to say it’s the first time that I haven’t seen the doctor I made an appointment with. For a business that makes such a point of the fact that it’s run by Dr. Robinson, I was extremely disappointed.
