Hello everyone,I recently had my hair transplant at HairMedico with Dr. Arslan Musbeh in Istanbul, with 3300 grafts.
It cost me €2950, and I opted for the Silver package, along with the post-operative shampoo treatment option.
I had Norwood 3 baldness, which had progressed to the middle of my scalp, although I still had some very fine hair at the front.
The reasons that led me to choose them for my transplant:Communication: Dr. Arslan speaks French, as do some members of his team.
Clinic policy: The clinic only performs one transplant per day, which was a very important criterion for me. It means the team is not overworked and does not rush through patients, as this is a meticulous and exhausting procedure.
Dr. Arslan’s credentials: He is a member of the ISHRS (International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery), which is a guarantee of the quality of his skills and, indirectly, those of his team.
Contact with Anaïs: She was very professional and always available to answer my many questions.Surgery day, I met Dr. Arslan and the team. They were all very friendly which helped me relax (because when you arrive in an unfamiliar country for a surgery, it’s normal to feel stressed). Dr. Arslan was also accompanied by two French surgeons in training on his methods. He examined my scalp, asked questions about my hair loss, family history of baldness, and whether I had tried any treatments, etc. Then came the moment of drawing my frontal hairline. He shaved my head, and for several minutes, they all observed and gave their opinions, measuring and re-measuring. It was quite amusing as I was the center of attention. Then came the surgery. They took off my t-shirt and shoes, and I put on a hospital gown. I lay down on my back, and then came the anesthesia, which was the part I was most apprehensive about. I felt some pain in certain areas of my scalp, but overall it was more fear than pain. You feel the needle going under the skin, which is not very pleasant, but it’s tolerable.Since my donor area was well-stocked, they decided to start with making the incisions. Dr. Arslan made 3300 incisions on the top of my head, taking the time to explain his method in order to achieve the most natural-looking result possible. At this point, I had a veil over my eyes, and I didn’t feel much pain, except in some sensitive areas, especially at the front. According to Dr. Arslan and the surgeons, this area is more sensitive, which is normal. The pain didn’t last long, just a slight tingling sensation when the tool passed through the skin. After 2.5 hours in this first phase, I was a bit lightheaded, and it was time for a meal break. They served me a nice, hearty meal.
Then we returned for the graft extraction from the donor area, where this time I was lying on my back again. After being anesthetized, the extraction began. In my case, 3300 grafts were extracted, and this step took about 2 hours, with two assistants working on my head—one making the holes around the grafts, and the other extracting and sorting them. Finally, the graft implantation. Again, most of the time, I didn’t feel pain, except when they worked on the sensitive area at the front. Otherwise, I mostly felt the sensation of the procedure being done. I even fell asleep at some points. The whole operation took 8 hours in total. When it was done, I got up feeling a little dizzy, but after a few minutes, I felt better. They applied a bandage to the donor area, and I was able to see my new frontal hairline. The next day came the shampooing, which, to my surprise, was by far the most uncomfortable part of the procedure. The donor area was very sensitive. Afterward, Anaïs explained the post-op precautions I would need to follow and the details of the treatment. Everything was once again explained very clearly.
Then came the time to returnAlthough the trip was short and intense, I am very satisfied with the services of Dr. Arslan and his team. I will now wait for the results and will keep you updated in the coming months.
