Last night, May 30th, two older women, one dark-haired and the other somewhat blonde, and a bald man attended to me. I came on my own by taxi with a severe anxiety attack to avoid using public healthcare resources, and the treatment I received was the most degrading I’ve ever experienced, worthy of a high-security prison. The accusatory looks, the lack of empathy in the tone and manner of their questions, the way they asked for my documents, all of it while I was nearly paralyzed by the anxiety attack. How sad it must be to work in such a noble and altruistic profession and be so empty inside. I can’t think of anything worse. After a blood test, they told me the results were fine, and yes, obviously, it was a panic attack with a sugar crash. They told me I had to leave the hospital. They didn’t even offer me water, a bag to breathe into, or anything to vomit in. I had to walk to the waiting room completely on my own, without any help, even though I could barely stand. I asked for time because I was fainting, and they said absolutely not, that I should go to another hospital. They also told me I had to leave the waiting room, even though it was nearly empty. I had to leave on my own. I collapsed on the floor, vomited, and no one did anything. Only one woman, who didn’t seem to be Swedish, helped me call the other hospital because I couldn’t speak. They called security on me because I told them they were unprofessional. They kicked me out of the hospital in full rain. Is this the socialist paradise we were promised in Southern Europe? Because I haven’t seen anything this inhumane, not even in a dystopian USSR movie. My country is light years ahead in healthcare and transport. It is absolutely intolerable that such high taxes are charged while such a level of public service is offered.
